The Lowcountry Diversity Council (LCDC) grew out of a recognition that many working people, young people, people of color and immigrants feel so disenfranchised that they do not exercise their right to vote. We found this to be very disheartening, especially in local elections where every vote can make a difference. Although many members of these communities feel excluded from the political process, they are often the very people who so desperately need representation and advocacy by their elected officials.

 The LCDC is committed to engaging women, people of color especially Native Islanders, immigrants, LGBTQ, and any other diverse and marginalized groups in civic engagement.
